Geography Confusion

Our neighbors across the street are from Albania (a country north of Greece). The father lives here with his little girl (age 5) while they wait for his wife to move here too. One day Emma yells across the street to her friend, “Ashley, where is your mom?” Ashely softly replies, “She’s in Albania”. Emma thinks for a moment and yells back, “WHAT! What is your mother doing in Alabama?!”

Since she often hears her friend talk to her family in Albanian, I guess she has decided this is pretty cool. The other day she began talking to me in “gibberish”. I told her that I didn’t understand a word she was saying. She said, as if I was the most ignorant person on earth, “Mom, I’m talking to you in Alabamian!”
